Grand Turk Island

Grand Turk is the capital island of the Turks and Caicos archipelago in the Atlantic Ocean.  You will find the remains of salt ponds and windmills from the  sea salt industry which was prevalent from the 17th to 20th century.  A beautiful lighthouse from the 19th century is perched on a rocky bluff on the north side of the island. Clear water beaches surround the island which is home to wild horses and donkeys. In Cockburn Town streets are lined with old Bermudian-style buildings. with looks from days gone by. The Turks and Caicos National Museum has exhibits on the  islands awesome history for those who want to take in culture and history.  On the west side of the island you will find the National Marine Park where Christopher Columbus is believed to have first landed in the New World.  Want a little more adventure on you trip?  This is a amazing place for scuba diving.  Explore shipwrecks, reefs, and a dramatic underwater wall that will leave you in awe. The south of the island near Governor beach  is home to cruise ships with many different shops, including Harley Davidson Grand Turk,  a wonderful swimming pool, and restaurants.
