10 Ways to Save Money While Traveling
Make Photocopies of Important Documents jeep these with you just Incase you need them; if a passport gets lost it will be much easier, cheaper, and quicker to get a new one!
Be Flexible
Try to always plan for delays and try to be patient when things go wrong. Patience is extremely important when traveling!
Make your ListI start making a list months before my travel. When I think of new things to add I write them on it. I even buy products on my list and pack them as I go. That way when time comes to pack, I’m all set. Check each item off as you add it.
CameraDon’t Forget your camera and Extra Camera Battery (or Two) and charger- I forgot them once and had to buy these items. Make sure you have memory/storage available as well, there is nothing worse then taking one picture and your camera tells you it’s full! Nobody want to go through and delete pictures for more room on vacation!
When you see that epic sunset photo or wildlife you will be set to capture memories! I try to bring three camera batteries on all of our trips so that we don’t miss out on that perfect shot.
Always Buy Travel Insurance
Be prepared for emergencies! A medical emergency can wipe out your savings! Be covered when if they occur!
Pack Extra Underwear
Did you mom ever tell you to make sure you have clean underwear on? Pack, preferably in your carry on; underwear.
Medications
Medication should always go in your carry-on. If your luggage gets lost it could be costly getting new medication.
Transportation
Always check the price of transportation from the airport. Nobody wants a surprisingly big bill to travel from the airport to your destination. Also, check to see if car seats are available if needed.
Free Public WIFI
BEWARE of public WIFI, unless you don’t mind sharing your personal information with strangers (I’m guessing you all mind!!) Avoid logging into bank accounts or entering any passwords while I’m using free public WIFI at a place like an airport. Once I am comfortable at the hotel and gave a protective password I feel better, use your own judgment.
Alert Your Bank and Credit Card Company of Your Travel Plans
This is a great habit to get into no matter where you go on vacation! It is not fun getting somewhere and having your card declined because the bank doesn’t recognize its you! I once was 40 miles from home paying for a rehearsal dinner and my bank declined it because they thought it was stolen; hassle and embarrassing! Tell your bank about vacation plans!
Packing Essentials 101: Travel Light, Travel Prepared
Traveling is so exciting; at the same time it can also be stressful. Especially when things don’t go as you planned. Forgotten essentials, can put a damper on the fun. We have all been there; forgetting that toothbrush, sunscreen, medicine, or charger. Start your next trip by packing like an expert with these time-saving/stress-busting travel tips.
1. Plan it all out beforehand with a checklist. You can make your own or find one online. I start with my own and add to it when I think of something new.
2. Go over your list and check things off. I find going over it a 5-7 days before I leave is best. Then I have plenty of time to pick up items I have forgotten without a rushed feeling.
3. Roll your clothes when packing your suitcase. Rolling takes up less space in your suitcase.
4. If your flying don’t forget to weight your suitcase. Most airlines have a 50 pound limit then you pay extra.
5. To organize chargers & cords use a hard sunglasses case.
6. Pack necklaces in cling wrap to avoid tangled. Certainly don’t want to waste precious vacation time detangling you jewelry.
7. Wear compression socks for more comfort during long flights.
8. Store straighteners and curling irons in oven mitts.
9. Take important essentials in your carry-on.
10. Bring an collapsible bag to put special finds in on the way home.
11. Take makeup samples instead of full size.
12. Bring along a waterproof phone case.
13. Store earrings in a pill case.
14. Keep all items you will need to remove In airport security together. The process will go much quicker!
